Multilingual learners often require additional support in both content mastery and language proficiency.
Common barriers include:
- limited academic vocabulary
- difficulty accessing grade-level math and text
- gaps in writing development
- low confidence in speaking and participation
- weak organization, planning, and study habits
Without coordinated intervention, students remain below grade level and EL students experience delays in reclassification and access to pathway electives to succeed in life.
Bay Area Tutoring Association (BATA) partners with school districts and community based organizations to accelerate academic achievement and English Learner (EL) progress toward Reclassification as Fluent English Proficient (RFEP) through high-impact tutoring in:

✔ Academic Language Development
✔ Executive Functioning
This partnership strengthens equitable access to college and career pathways.
